Don't worry - you're in the right place. I just decided to change the template of this blog. I never really liked the older design -- this one is more clear. I know this blog would benefit from more photos, but I don't really have any to post! Scroll down for a chronological account of my ICL experience going back in time and look out for more updates in the future!

    i had operation one week ago (for one eye). how long did it took for you to be able.to read letters from close (a book)/and from afar. Im a bit scared ( for the second part) that i was a bit undercorrected.

    @Ehduh if you post your email, I can send you a message.

    @dominic: please read my first series of posts for details on how quickly i healed. If memory serves me correctly, I could read within a few days. I was undercorrected in one eye as well, but it was very minor and reading should not be an issue. Please see your doctor for advice!

3+ year update: narrowing vault/space in left eye :(

I went to see my Opthalmologist for my annual check up last week. 20/20 both eyes, which was great to hear, but unfortunately they told me the vault between my natural lens and my ICL on my left eye has narrowed. He said it's natural for the space to narrow as one ages, but that it is not a good thing obviously. However, there's still space -- so nothing to worry about. Just need to monitor annually. Not the greatest news, but nothing I can do right now to worry... Will provide another update next year. Hopefully it won't be worse!

It has been decided: Iridotomy

Reasoning: Like many others, I have decided to begin documenting some of my experiences in my journey toward getting ICLs (Implantable Contact Lenses or Intraocular Collamer Lenses). Felt I should give back after "taking" in all of everyone else's experiences, both good and bad. I too feel that there isn't a lot of information out there about ICL experiences in particular: we're a small population of people, since most choose LASIK or PRK. I'm 31, male, about -6/-7 (ish) in each eye with moderately high astigmatism. Thin corneas, dry eyes, high myopia made me not a candidate for LASIK. My severe dry eye has also lead to corneal abrasions while wearing contacts and so I am no longer allowed to wear contacts either (or else I would consider forgoing refractive surgery completely, given all the risks).
